Let me tell you a story. A potential buyer views a house in Round Top, Texas, and finds an old photo of Waylon Jennings on the floor. That may not seem like much, but consider this: The potential
buyer is the event manager and talent buyer for Luckenbach; Round Top is the called the “birthplace of Texas”; and Jennings’ 45, Luckenbach, Texas (Back to the Basics of Love) (1977), is what ultimately put Luckenbach – and, by extension, the Texas music scene – on the map. The word, synchronicity, comes to mind.
Dance halls hold a special places in Texan hearts. For much longer than I’ve been around, they’ve been places for the community to gather, share a dance, and be part of a bigger family. Many historical dance halls dot our state, and one such gem is The Old Coupland Inn & Dance Hall, east of Round Rock and about 40 minutes from downtown Austin.
